{"id":67802,"date":"2025-08-22T12:04:55","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T16:04:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cleanpower.org\/?post_type=press_release&#038;p=67802"},"modified":"2025-09-18T13:45:38","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T17:45:38","slug":"nj-implementing-energy-storage-program","status":"publish","type":"press_release","link":"https:\/\/cleanpower.org\/news\/nj-implementing-energy-storage-program\/","title":{"rendered":"ACP Commends NJ Leadership in Implementing Energy Storage Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">WASHINGTON<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, D.C., August 12, 2025<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> \u2014 <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">The American Clean Power Association (ACP) released the following statement from <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">ACP Director of Eastern State Affairs Moira Cyphers <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">following the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities\u2019 official launch of the state\u2019s energy storage program in conjunction with Governor Murphy&#8217;s signature on complementary legislation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With the signing of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.njleg.state.nj.us\/bill-search\/2024\/A5267\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">A5267<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and the official launch of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/bpu\/newsroom\/2025\/approved\/20250618solar.html\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Garden State Energy Storage Program<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the state will move forward with a competitive procurement process for grid-scale energy storage, while using existing funds and avoiding new costs to ratepayers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNew Jersey is home to significant innovation and economic growth. From Cape May to Montague, we must ensure that all communities have access to safe, reliable and affordable power and benefit from this growth.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cWe commend Governor Murphy and the NJBPU for taking the step to do just that, moving forward with the program to deploy at least 2 GW of energy storage in the state \u2014 enough to power 2 million homes during peak demand.
